CHAPTER 6

Verse 24.[207] “To protect you from the married woman.” From the teaching of the heterodox and from their slanderous word.

Verse 25.[208] “Nor be caught by her eyelids.” Do not let the enticements of [her] speech which is set forth with ingenious subtlety capture you.[48]

Verse 26.[209] “But a wife catches the honorable souls of men unawares.” Even the soul caught unawares by a woman is honorable by nature, for it is not earthy by nature. Or, since both the mind and the soul of the courageous are honorable, she catches these alike.
